REPUBLICAN

About Chris

Chris Lumsden is a proven leader with a lifetime of service, results, and dedication to his community.

For more than four decades, Chris built and led some of the most respected rural healthcare systems in the south delivering real results for patients, employees, and families. Most recently, as President and CEO of Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy until his retirement in 2024, Chris transformed the organization into one of the top-ranked community hospitals in America and put Surry County on the map as a leader in rural healthcare.

Leadership

  • Led Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy to be nationally recognized as a Top 100 Community Hospital in America
  • Recruited 50 new doctors and medical professionals to our community and established a new family medicine practice
  • Collaborated with local leaders to secure $28 million in funding for Northern Regional Hospital which brought additional resources to the hospital and improved Nurse Educator programs
  • When frontline healthcare workers expressed their concerns to Chris about sweeping COVID mandates and regulations, he fought back against Biden/Cooper policies. Chris held his ground and was the last hospital in North Carolina to adopt the federal vaccine mandate. Chris stared down the federal government to protect his employees – he’ll take that same leadership to Raleigh as your State House Representative

Community Service

  • Chaired multiple community, regional, and state economic development boards to assist local businesses and entrepreneurs
  • Focused on improving education in our community – Chris has chaired and served on various higher education boards, and was recently appointed to the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges by Speaker of the House, Destin Hall
  • Invested in people – Chris pioneered education assistance, tuition payment, and scholarship “grow our own” programs to help others reach their professional goals while remaining rooted by working in our community

Chris is ready to serve NC House District 90 – his Republican principles, leadership skills, and community background have prepared him to serve.
